Scrappy quilt are great for using up left over pieces of fabric.

Both these quilts were made from leftovers!

This quilt was made using odd pieces left over from other projects. It’s really quick and easy to make, using 2 ½” strips.

Cut the fabrics for the sails and hulls into 2 ½” strips. Join them horizontally in sections of twos and then cut diagonally to make the triangles for the sails and the ends of the hulls.

Create the boats as desired and then add a contrasting 2 ½” strips above and below each boat strip. Add batting & backing! Great for a boy’s bed!

This quilt was made from a stack of small pieces collected over the years.

Take a handful of co-ordinating fabrics, and cut out 12 heart shapes from different but co-ordinating fabrics. Appliqué them to contrasting 6” blocks. Then take a handful of similar fabrics and join them in a variety of ways, 9 patch, sticks & stones etc to create 6” squares. Join squares horizontally placing a heart square in the centre of each strip. Join together to size required. Add batting and backing! Great for a girl’ bed!

Christmas projects

Christmas fabric is such fun, I try to use it for all sorts of projects as well as quilting!

Here is a Christmas cushion, really effective and very simple to make.

Using  odd pieces of fabric cut out Christmas shapes and appliqué them onto a plain base. Divide the base up with thin strips of tartan.

Use the same tartan fabric to wrap piping cord in and attach the piping to the front of cushion cover, then make up cushion as usual.

You can also use Christmas fabric to make Christmas decorations, like trees, gingerbread men, hearts, reindeer either individual decorations or join them up into a garland.

Christmas Aprons are very popular, and of course Christmas stockings, tea towels & table mats.

All of these projects are very simple using either xmas labels or xmas fabric but they make great gifts!!

More Projects

This quilt was made very quickly using only three different blocks; nine patch, daisy block and square in a square.

Using only 5 different fabrics for the main body of the quilt plus two blenders for the inner and outer borders, this was a simple and inexpensive quilt to make.

Made in warm spring colours it is bright & fresh!

All the blocks are 6” square, daisy blocks in mid green on white floral, light green on white floral, orange floral on white floral, and white floral on orange floral.

The nine patch blocks are a mixture of the other fabrics as are the square in a square blocks.

This baby quilt was made in super soft baby flannel and because the designs on the fabric are so gorgeous I didn’t want to cut the fabric too much so I just used a central panel surrounded by wide strips.

Quick to make and very simple!

Baby quilts are really fun to make because the fabric is so lovely and because the quilts are quite small so they are easier to construct!

Here are a couple of the blocks I’m using for my next baby project
